Audi appoints former Scuderia Ferrari head for its F1 team

Audi has announced that its Formula One effort will now be led by Mattia Binotto.
Binotto has been appointed as the Chief Operating and Chief Technical Officer in the leadership team of Sauber Motorsport AG, which Audi announced it planned to acquire in March of 2024. Binotto will report to the Board of Directors of Sauber Motorsport AG.
Audi states that the decision to appoint Mattia Binotto comes as part of its realignment of the control structure for the future Audi factory team and is being done to ensure the autonomy and independence of the Audi Formula one project.
Binotto first joined the Formula One test team of Ferrari in 1995. He subsequently had various positions, from Chief Engineer to Manager of the engine department and Technical Director. In 2019 he was additionally appointed as team head of Scuderia Ferrari.
