Audiophile drivers seeking the latest and most sophisticated listening experiences in their rides are in for an aural feast.
With Autoform Enterprise freshly minted as the authorised aftermarket distributor of Harman since 2024, getting one's hands on a comprehensive in-car speaker (and subwoofer) setup promises to be easier than before.
And it's not just the company's longstanding expertise that can be counted on in isolation too. Within the short span of six months since it took over the distributorship, it has managed to garner strong support, by already amassing a vast network of 32 dealers islandwide. It was precisely these esteemed partners that Autoform Enterprise celebrated and honoured, as it celebrated its inaugural Harman dealers' night on 10 July 2024 (last Tuesday), held at the prestigious Singapore Recreation Club.
In the automotive arena alone, Harman - a Samsung subsidiary - has enjoyed partnerships with more than 35 brands globally. These include luxury heavyweights such as Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, supergroups such as Stellantis and Volkswagen Group, and also newer Chinese players such as Great Wall Motor and GAC.
But regardless of whether you actually own a car, the company should need no introduction.
Arguably the most prominent name under its belt is a three-letter brand that manufactures everything from in-car speakers and subwoofers to boomboxes and even wireless earbuds: JBL. Additionally, Harman also stewards respected brands including Infinity, and of course, Harman Kardon.
Altogether, these three sub-brands (yes, including Harman Kardon) are now supported by Autoform Enterprise, and aim to serve a wide and diverse customer base in the aftermarket sector.
As the 'entry-level' marque of the trio, Infinity targets drivers who are more particular with the quality of their sound systems, yet don't necessarily consider themselves to be high-end audiophiles.
Its products are more technical, and provide notable upgrades in sound quality and customisation that standard OEM systems cannot offer. While Infinity may currently be the least recognised name among the trio, customers can look forward to a 'rebirth' of the brand on our shores with Autoform Enterprises at the helm now.
On the other end of the spectrum, Harman Kardon is the undeniable high-end sibling of the range, offering products of a more premium build for "high-status car owners".
What makes its presence here special, however, is the recent launch of its first ever aftermarket product line. Products from the brand have thus far only been factory-fitted by luxury OEM brands, including the likes of BMW, MINI, Maserati and Volvo.
Last but not least, JBL has arguably made the most (sound)waves among the trio of brands with its signature "loud and clear" branding. Apart from delivering quality, JBL targets younger drivers for whom connectivity, convenience and active lifestyles are priorities. The brand further promises to deliver easy and un-complex systems with all-in-one functionality. And above all, JBL prides itself on its spirit of innovation and constant reinvention.
On this note, it's not just its core range of products that it has continued to enhance, but the diversity of its offerings too.
The rise of Autoform Enterprise to authorised distributor comes at a time at which the brand is renewing and strengthening its speaker, subwoofer and amplifier lineups.
Joining the former are the all-new Club series speakers, which were honoured at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Innovation Awards thanks to their compact design.
The intelligent packaging of the the Club speakers now brings the JBL pro sound to even more vehicles with their extra versatility, while still being capable of outstanding audio performance thanks to their high sensitivity. Another highlight is the JBL's Plus One Woofer cone design, which can deliver hard-hitting bass and long performance life.
Likewise, JBL's subwoofer lineup has been bolstered recently with the new Club series too, which are equipped with a nifty feature called Selectable Smart Impedance (SSI) - allowing users to select the optimum impedance of either 2 or 4 ohms for your chosen amplifier.
But as mentioned, it's not just its bread-and-butter products that JBL is keen on improving, but also the sorts of products it offers to customers too.
Proof that JBL has an eye out beyond just audio equipment, one of the evening's product highlights was the JBL Legend: A 9.0-inch touchscreen head unit with Bluetooth connectivity and voice-activated functionality.
JBL states that this is the first aftermarket head unit to have gotten official licences for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support - both of which are not obtainable by just any brand. Testament to JBL's strong reputation, the support for both operating systems, combined with the backing of a reputed name, promises users seamlessness and assured quality.
As in-vehicle entertainment continues to take on different forms, JBL has also jumped on the karaoke bandwagon with a system-specific JBL DSP Amplifier K86, which can be bundled in and connected seamlessly in JBL's in-house developed, ultra high frequency wireless microphones. The system even boasts its own smartphone app, through which the audio settings can be more conveniently fine-tuned.
Finally, joining JBL's latest product lineup is the revolutionary JBL BassPro Go. Branded as the world's first two-in-one in-vehicle powered subwoofer, the product also doubles up as a full-range portable bluetooth speaker.
When docked (and charging up) in your vehicle's trunk, the BassPro Go serves as a powerful and capable subwoofer. But grab it from its dock - and carry it along with you - and it instantly morphs into your own portable stereo for a picnic. With its IPX5 waterproof rating and eight hours of playback time, more rugged and adventurous applications (camping weekends, anyone?) are possible too.
The event even saw a live demonstration of the BassPro Go's prowess, with a demo unit helping to provide ambient music throughout the evening.
Of course, the Dealers' Night would not have been complete without some fun and games thrown into the mix. A lucky draw at the end saw the top winner walking home with a Harman Kardon FEEL 700 Underseat Subwoofer paired to a FLOW 600CFS 6.5-inch component system, worth $1,398.
Interested merchants may contact Autoform Enterprise for reseller policies and arrangements. Additionally, the firm promises that attractive deals and special support await audio workshops who join its growing network of dealers.
