BMW has launched the new iX2 here in Singapore.
The all-electric cousin to the BMW X2, this all-electric coupe crossover is being launched in Singapore with the 'eDrive20 M Sport' variant, which is equipped with a total power output of 148bhp and develops a peak torque of 250Nm. This power allows the car to accelerate to 100km/h from a standstill in 8.6 seconds.
For some comparison, the petrol-powered X2 sDrive 16i we drove in May offers a total power output of 121bhp and 230Nm of torque and will complete the same sprint in 10.5 seconds.
The BMW iX2 comes powered by a 64.8kWh battery, imparting the car with a 478km WLTP range. This battery can be charged at up to 22kW via an alternating current charger, which is enough to see a full zero to 100% capacity charge completed in three hours and 45 minutes.
Plug the car into a direct current charger, meanwhile, and it can be topped up at a maximum power of 130kW, so a 10% to 80% charge can be accomplished in just 29 minutes. This maximum charge rate also means that up to 120km of range can be added to the BMW iX2 in just 10 minutes to charging.
Total cargo space from the iX2, meanwhile, stands at 525 litres, although this can be expanded to 1,400 litres when its rear seats are folded down.
A 10.25-inch instrument display and 10.7-inch infotainment screen that runs on the firm's Operating System 9 features in the cabin of the iX2, and the car will also be offered here with 20-inch rims as standard.
BMW i customers here in Singapore can opt for either a wall-mounted AC charger with complimentary installation service or a subscription package of 10,000kWh over three years at Shell Recharge stations with no monthly cap for charging.
