Cupra has revealed its new Terramar hybrid crossover.
The new car is said to sport Cupra latest design language, which we first saw in the new Cupra Leon and Formentor.
Features on the new Cupra Terramar that are informed by this new design language include the use of a three-triangle light signature, as well as that performance-oriented front, said to be suggestive of sports cars.
Sweeping lines along the car's sides, as well as a wide rear give the Terramar sporting presence. This is further accentuated by an integrated and illuminated Cupra logo between its rear lights, while its 'Terramar' badge is also said to appear at the rear as an illuminated item.
Inside, the car sports a 12.9-inch infotainment system as well as a retro-illuminated slider, while a 12-speaker system from Sennheiser will also be available. Driver and passengers, meanwhile, will rest atop bucket seats wrapped in textile made from 100% upcycled Seaqual yarn. Dinamica upholstery that comprises of at least 73% recycled textile or leather that uses a plant-based tanning process will also be offered.
The Cupra Terramar is being offered with a host of engine options, each paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The lineup starts with a 148bhp four-cylinder engine and ends with two performance-oriented options including a four-cylinder that delivers 262bhp paired with an all-wheel drive system, and a plug-in hybrid that offers a system total output of 268bhp.
A 201bhp plug-in hybrid drivetrain will also be offered, which gets a 19.7kWh battery that allows the crossover to post an electric-only range of 112km.
Handling prowess deserving of the Cupra name, meanwhile, is assured thanks to the Terramar's sport suspension paired with adaptative chassis control technology, progressive steering, and Akebono brakes.
The Cupra Terramar is set to be offered in nine exterior colours including two matt options: Century Bronze Matt and Enceladus Grey Matt. A Dark Void exterior colour will also be offered, inspired by the plasma colour of the Cupra DarkRebel Showcar.
Designed and developed in Barcelona, the Cupra Terramar will be produced in Audi's Gyor plant in Hungary, and deliveries are set to start in the last quarter of 2024.
