This is the new vehicle to look out for when you're motoring about in the U.S.A, if you're looking to conduct some criminal activity that is.
Ford has unveiled its new 2025 Ford Police Interceptor Utility. The upgraded Ford Interceptor is available as standard with a hybrid drivetrain that makes use of a 3.3-litre V6 engine, which is able to power the vehicle's onboard equipment even when its combustion engine is switched off and is said to contribute to a potential fuel savings of up to 3,100 litres per year.
The Ford Police Interceptor Utility can also be had as a 3.3-litre V6 non-hybrid variant or equipped with a 3.0-litre EcoBoost engine.
But here's what you’re more likely to be interested in: Ford reveals that the vehicle can be had with features including added ballistic panels to the front door panels that can offer two different levels of protection from firearms.
Added as standard, however, is a Police Perimeter Alert system that detects moving threats around the vehicle and can automatically activate the vehicle’s rear camera, sound a chime, rollup the windows, or lock the car's doors. The cars also come equipped with a Police Engine Idle feature, which allows officers to lock the vehicle and take the keys with them, but keeps the engine running to power onboard equipment.
The Ford Police Interceptor Utility also comes with a 12.3-inch LCD digital instrument cluster with a certified speedometer for clearer information display during operation, while a steering wheel button allows officers to put the vehicle into a high-performance pursuit mode without taking their hands off the wheel.
