Ford revives Capri nameplate as new all-electric four-door

After reviving the Puma name as a four-door crossover in 2019, Ford has now brought back the Capri nameplate, and as with the Puma, this new car isn't a sporty coupe.
It instead takes the form of a four-door raised sedan with a rakish roof and is now all-electric.
Look at the car from the side and the Polestar 2 immediately comes to mind. And the Ford Capri isn't far off the dimensions of the Polestar either. It measures in at 4,634mm long, 1,946mm wide, and 1,626mm tall (so just a touch longer but narrower and taller than the Swedish rival).
Based on Volkswagen Group's MEB architecture (which also underpins the ID.5), the Ford Capri is being launched with two powertrain variants. The first 'Extended Range RWD' comes with a 77kWh battery, offers a total of 282bhp alongside a peak torque of 545Nm, and will accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 6.4 seconds. WLTP range for this Capri stands at 627km, and its battery will charge at a maximum of 135kW.
The 'Extended Range AWD' variant, meanwhile, utilises a 79kWh battery, and offers a total power output of 335bhp, and will complete the century sprint in 5.3 seconds. WLTP range for this variant tops at 592km, while peak charging speed for its battery stands at 185kW.
Inside, the Ford Capri features a 14.6-inch centre screen, the position of which can be adjusted so users always have it at a comfortable viewing angle. This will pair with a 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a seven-speaker sound system that includes a soundbar as standard.
Opt for the 'Premium' trim, however, and the Capri will also come with features including a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system that not only includes a soundbar but also adds a subwoofer, ambient interior lighting, and a hands-free tailgate at the rear, which opens up to a 572 litres boot. U.K. customers who opt for this trim will also get their car with a panoramic glass roof.
