Harmony Auto brings Cat A-friendly BYD models to the West

West-siders who want to hold out on visiting BYD's grand and brand new flagship showroom along Alexandra Road while the buzz simmers down are in luck; they also have the BYD Harmony Auto Premium Brand Showcase to look forward to, which landed yesterday (22 July 2024) at the Level 1 Atrium of Jurong Point.

Perhaps even more tantalising is the fact that the spread of BYD models that Harmony Auto has lined up for visitors this time round is likely to suit the needs of a multitude of buyers, while still being underscored by the same promise of value: They are all eligible for a Category A COE.

Among the trio of Cat A COE-eligible models one will find at Jurong Point this week are the BYD Atto 3, BYD Seal and BYD Dolphin (pictured in Sand White) 

As your starting point to the range, the cutesy BYD Dolphin will likely appeal to drivers for whom ease-of-driving and cost-efficiency are key. Its single electric motor sends 94bhp and 180Nm of instant torque to the front wheels - enough to imbue it with a good sense of pep, yet also not wear down too heavily on the wallet when the road tax bills arrive.

On the one hand, with the car measuring out at just under three metres long and 1.8m wide, the Dolphin's compact proportions give it a stellar 'go-anywhere' quality when it comes to Singapore's narrower roads and tighter carparks.

The pint-sized Dolphin offers loads of intriguing interior design touches within - including physical controls arranged in this cylindrical shape - and is surprisingly spacious despite its compact dimensions, thanks to its 2,700mm wheelbase

On the other hand, its 2,700mm wheelbase means legroom is excellent for rear passengers. On the inside, too, the Dolphin's cabin delights with its marine-like theme, comprising charming features such as flipper-shaped door handles, swirl- and wave-like patterns on the dashboard, and physical controls (including the car's gear shifter) packed horizontally into a cylindrical column. 

Drivers seeking something with a sportier character, however, will be well-served by the BYD Seal. 

This isn't just any Seal, however, but the recently-reintroduced Cat A variant, known as the Seal Dynamic 100kW. You'll be able to mark the Dynamic 100kW out most immediately by its 18-inch wheels - compared to the 19-inchers on the Premium and Performance variants - whose rims sport their own unique design.

Buyers will also be able to get up close with the recently-launched BYD Seal Dynamic 100kW at Jurong Point. A 61.4kWh battery gives the electric sedan a commendable WLTP-rated range of up to 460km, which should easily see to more than a week of commuting for the average Singaporean driver

Despite the (sensible) power cut, the Seal is likely to be more than capable of satisfying keen drivers too, thanks to the fact that its single motor still produces a very healthy 310Nm of torque. 

And while it uses a smaller 61.4kWh battery, the Seal Dynamic 100kW still has a very commendable WLTP-rated range of 460km on a full charge - which should easily see to a week of commuting for most local drivers.

Furthermore, even as the base variant, the Seal Dynamic 100kW still offers a premium-feeling space on the inside, thanks to its vegan leather seats, panoramic sunroof, 15.6-inch Intelligent Rotating Display, and neat centre console with its 'crystal' gearknob shifter.

It also packs a rather generous feature list, including the likes of a powered tailgate, a full suite of safety assistance systems, as well as front ventilated seats.

However, arguably the most luminous star here - at least on a commercial level - is a name that we know as Singapore's best-selling model in 2024 thus far: The BYD Atto 3.

While its imaginative interior styling, spacious cabin and good level of equipment onboard have already won customers over for a couple of years, it's also worth recapping what the 2024 model year car further offers buyers.

The 2024 refresh of the Atto 3 now sees it riding as standard on more premium eco-tyres 

For starters, the Atto 3's D-pillars are now finished in gloss black rather than chrome. The SUV also rides on premium Continental Eco Contact 6Q tyres, which promise a more pliant and silent ride on the go.

On the inside, buyers will also be greeted with a larger 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen - similar to the one on the Seal - which now offers BYD's charming karaoke app as standard. (This is also available on the Dolphin.)

And finally, a more muted Boulder Black/Cosmos Blue upholstery combination is freshly available for buyers that opt for their car in Cosmos Black or Boulder Grey paintwork.

The refreshed Atto 3 is also offered with a new Boulder Black/Cosmos Blue upholstery - at least for those who opt for their cars in Cosmos Black or Boulder Grey

Best of all, those interested in the Atto 3 don't just have two static units of the car to get up close with here.

Instead, Harmony Auto has also brought a third Atto 3 to Jurong Point for test drives instead - ensuring that roadshow visitors don't have to separately arrange to head down to the showroom to get behind the wheel, and onto the road.

As with any of these mall visits, visitors can look forward to exclusive discounts and deals should they decide to purchase a BYD at Jurong Point during this period.

Harmony Auto is even giving visitors the chance to test drive the Atto 3 straight from Jurong Point 

Against the potential volatility of COE prices, Harmony Auto is offering discounts to those who purchase their cars with a guaranteed COE (this is known as the 'Excite Package') during this period. 

Opting for the Excite Package with any of the Cat A models on site will net buyers an $8,000 discount, but even those with their eyes set on Cat B variants of the BYD Seal (not present here) stand to gain, with a $13,000 discount.

Additionally, buyers can look forward to excellent aftersales support from Harmony Auto, with all purchased cars coming with eight years of battery warranty, six years of free servicing, as well as a six-year vehicle warranty.
