Just days after BMW and Toyota announced that they would be collaborating on hydrogen technology, General Motors and Hyundai have now announced that will be collaborating across a host of technologies.
Both General Motors and Hyundai state that they will be collaborating on a host of technologies including internal combustion engines, as well as electric and hydrogen technologies to be utilised on passenger and commercial vehicles. The firms will additionally be exploring opportunities to reduce costs and bring a wider range of vehicles and technologies to customers faster.
The two firms will also be reviewing opportunities for combined sourcing in areas including battery raw materials, steel, and other areas.
The framework agreement was signed by Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung and GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra. Both firms state that their flexibility and agility will allow them both to explore the development of their shared capabilities. Both firms will begin assessment of the opportunities available and work towards binding agreements immediately.
