Maserati has revealed its new GT2 Stradale, a car which is said to channel the performance of its GT2 race car to deliver best possible on-road driving experience.
The GT2 Stradale is based on the same lightweight carbon fibre chassis as the GT2 track car (also shared with the MC20 coupe), which is said to deliver uncompromising torsional rigidity and extraordinary handling, whether it be on the road or track.
The body of the GT2 Stradale, however, has seen a host of changes including a broadening of its front intake, while the car's bonnet sports added vents which take their inspiration from the GT2 race car.
The intakes on the rear fenders, meanwhile, have been completely redesigned. Larger than those on the MC20 coupe, these are said to deliver more cold air into the engine's radiators. Also redesigned is the car's carbon fibre rear spoiler, which gets a new boomerang design complete with built-in endplates.
All these changes mean the GT2 Stradale can offer a total of 500kg of downforce at 280km/h with its rear wing set to its most aggressive setting. The Maserati MC20 coupe, for comparison, will deliver 145kg of downforce at this same speed.
Power for the GT2 Stradale comes from the same V6 Nettuno engine as in the MC20 coupe, although a retuning means total power now reaches 632bhp (11bhp more than before), while peak torque stands at a total of 720Nm.
Maserati states that the GT Stradale further gets a revised steering system with a racing calibration, while its brake system has been upgraded with new ventilated discs, callipers, and pads adapted for track use.
The car also comes with double shell carbon fibre seats in the cabin. Designed by Sabelt, these come complete with foam ends upholstered in Blu Elettrico Alcantara. The car's steering wheel also takes after the one found in the MC20 but gets a thicker rim.
