Mazda enters 2024 Race of Remembrance with special MX-30
10 Nov 2024|77 views
For the 10th edition of the Race of Remembrance, Mazda - who has been supporting the event since its inception - will enter its special 'poppy art' e-Skyactiv MX-30 R-EV, which will lead the field as the course car.
Having been a supporter of Mission Motorsports since its founding in 2012, Mazda has collaborated with the organisation to create this second Mazda poppy 'art car', with the first being the Mk4 MX-5 in 2015.
Using a rotary generator, the MX-30 R-EV is essentially a plug-in hybrid that offers a different take on conventional battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Sporting a 17.8kWh battery capable of an 85km pure electric range, the car is enhanced using Mazda's rotary engine technology.
With no mechanical connection between the engine and wheels, a 830cc single-rotor petrol engine unit simply acts as a range-extending generator for said battery, ensuring that the R-EV is still always driven via the electric motor for a seamless EV driving experience. This allows drivers to embark on long distance drives without range or charging anxiety.
The Race of Remembrance is now underway at the Anglesey racetrack in North Wales, and runs from 8 November 2024 to 10 November 2024.
