Singaporean drivers who have already been won over by the unconventional styling, spacious interior, and excellent all-electric range of the Y Plus - yet still want something a bit more upmarket - now have a second and upgraded variant to turn to: The all-new Aion Y Plus Premium. The launch of the crossover's second trim was announced by VINCAR EV on Tuesday morning (23 July 2024).
First teased during the Y Plus' original local launch (alongside the Aion brand), the Y Plus Premium packs slightly more style, a more generously-equipped cabin, as well as what has been described as an "arsenal of cutting-edge safety features" over the base-spec Y Plus. It does all this at quite the bargain too - an additional $6,000 - but even so, still manages to sneak under the $150,000 line (inclusive of COE) at the time of its launch.
For starters, buyers who opt for their Y Plus in this more premium trim will get larger 18-inch wheels, in place of the 17-inch ones offered as standard. Stepping inside, they will also find that the passenger seat now offers four-way powered adjustment, while the driver gets something even better - seat ventilation.
In the second row, the Y Plus Premium also gets a central armrest as well as a third headrest for the middle passenger. And throughout the cabin, occupants will also find that the 32-colour ambient lighting system (already offered on the standard Y Plus) comes with a touch more sparkle here: It can 'dance' to the beat of whatever music you've put on in the car.
But as mentioned earlier, the Y Plus Premium sets itself apart most notably from the standard Y Plus with the sheer breadth of safety assistance features added.
Equipped with GAC Aion's ADiGO system, drivers will get to enjoy extra peace of mind thanks not just to crucial essentials such as Automatic Emergency Braking and a Forward Collision Warning, but also semi-autonomous features that promise to make expressway-driving more relaxing.
These include Adaptive Cruise Control, which is integrated seamlessly with the car's Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning systems, as well as a very handy Traffic Jam Assist. As its name suggests, the latter can help take some stress out of getting stuck in stop-and-go traffic by automatically maintaining a safe distance, decelerating, braking and finally, keeping the car within its lane.
The launch of the Y Plus Premium also comes as VINCAR EV continues to enhance the ownership experience for its customers on the digital front: With an all-new AION App.
Coinciding with the introduction of the new variant, the AION App offers owners a multitude of functions that promise to make life with the Y Plus Premium (or even the normal Y Plus) more pleasant.
Serving as a super-advanced remote control of sorts, the app can be accessed to check on the vehicle's charge status; monitor whether the doors, windows, sunroof and trunk are open (and lock them if necessary); pre-set the car's climate control; and even track the car down in instances where an owner has forgotten where he/she has parked. When the time to recharge inevitably arrives, the Aion app also contains a charging map that can display locations of compatible charging stations nearby.
Finally, the app can be tapped on to access roadside assistance and customer service during emergencies.
The Aion Y Plus Premium - like all other Aion models sold by VINCAR EV - comes with six years of free servicing, and an eight-year vehicle (or up to 160,000km, whichever occurs first) and battery warranty (or up to 300,000km, whichever occurs first with a minimum state-of-health of 70%). The car is priced at $149,988 at launch, inclusive of COE.
