Infineum raises its sustainability efforts here and abroad

Infineum, a joint venture between Shell and Exxon Mobil and global leader in the formulation, manufacturing and marketing of petroleum additives for lubricants and fuels, has announced its sustainability achievements and plans.
The firm aims to collaborate with energy providers and site partners throughout Asia and globally to expand solar farms, improve the renewable energy mix, and optimise its facilities. The company also plans to invest $20 million annually on capital improvements to its manufacturing facilities.
In Singapore, the firm has made significant progress in optimising the centrifuge of its Calcium Sulphonate unit, a move which is said to contribute to daily water consumption savings of 48m3. The firm also achieved an 80% reduction in refrigerant losses in 2022, a move which is said to correspond to over 8,000Mt CO2e in greenhouse gas emission savings across its manufacturing plants.
Infineum's broad range of applications spans across various industries, including automotive, marine shipping and gas engines, crude oil refining, and mining. The company operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Jurong Island, Singapore. It was also the first major lubricant additive company to announce its Net Zero ambition, which targets a 50% reduction in emission intensity by 2030 for its operated assets, and to reach net zero emissions by 2050 for its operated assets.
It additionally published its 2022 Sustainability Report earlier in July 2023, which provides an update on the progress the company has made against its goals.
