Once again, Porsche has given local car enthusiasts reason to rejoice.
Following the opening of Porsche Studio Singapore, the world premiere of the new Macan at Gardens by the Bay, and the international Dealer Launch Event held at the Marina Bay area, the brand is putting Singapore in the spotlight once again with the announcement that it is set to construct a Porsche Experience Centre (PEC) right on our shores. When PEC Singapore opens its doors come 2027 in the future Changi precinct, it will mark the firm's 11th Centre worldwide.
Notably, PEC Singapore will be the first permanent driver-focused facility of its kind by Porsche in the Southeast Asian region. Within the larger Asia Pacific area, PECs are currently located only in Tokyo and Shanghai. PECs can also be found in the U.S.A, and within Europe (Germany and Italy), with a facility in Toronto set to be completed within 2024.
Strategically positioned just 20 minutes away from Changi Airport - beside the Changi Exhibition Centre and the upcoming Aviation Park MRT station - Porsche fans and customers can look forward to a range of thrilling activities and dynamic experiences at the PEC Singapore.
As with other PECs worldwide, the Centre promises a range of unique experiences, spanning on-track driving courses and immersive activities for families. Specifically, Porsche states that a two-kilometre dynamic handling track will allow visitors to experience the prowess of its two and four-door sports cars.
For now, the brand has also revealed that fans can expect themed exhibitions, a periodically-changing display of cars from the archive of the Porsche Museum, racing simulators, and curated dining options. Details on other features and attractions are set to be released in due course.
But PEC Singapore is set to have a unique edge of its own thus far not replicated by any other Centre. Set to be operational in 2027, the Centre will feature a fully integrated, high-capacity aftersales facility - the first of its kind in the entire world.
In line with Porsche's global commitment towards a net carbon neutral value chain of newly-produced vehicles in 2030 and the Singapore Green Plan 2030, the PEC Singapore fleet will boast a significant number of electric vehicles, providing visitors with an environmentally conscious but thrilling driving experience.
Interestingly, it appears that our very own Singapore Tourism Board will help to play a key role in making PEC Singapore a reality.
The announcement of the new Experience Centre was made during the Tourism Industry Conference 2024 by Ms. Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-Charge of Trade Relations in Singapore.
Ms. Melissa Ow, Chief Executive, Singapore Tourism Board, expressed her excitement at the news, noting, "Beyond tourism, the facility will also inject vibrancy into the Changi precinct and deliver industrial benefits that will further bolster our economy."
Mr. Hannes Ruoff, Chief Executive Officer of Porsche Asia Pacific, also re-emphasised the importance of Singapore to the Porsche brand, stating, "This initiative not only reflects our commitment to delivering our unique brand of exhilaration to customers and fans, but also underlines Singapore's pivotal role as a gateway to the thriving Southeast Asian market."
