Maserati has revealed the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello, a one-off car designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Tignanello, described by the firm as one of the world's most influential red wines.
The car is the product of a collaboration with Italian wine company Marchesi Antinori, which is said to not only boasts a wine history of over 600 years, but also shares the same solid identity, innovative intuition and respect for tradition, values that Maserati also hold dear.
The seats of the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello feature a silver and burgundy ribbed weave which are designed to recall the pattern of the rows of vines on the Tignanello hill
Maserati states that it has poured research into the uniqueness that surrounds the history of this wine and paid homage to the Florentine family of winemakers through the car's colours, shades, innovative materials and refined artisan details that make the GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello.
The car thus comes with a custom Terra di Tignanello paint, described as a chestnut colour that not only takes inspiration from the soil of a vineyard, but is additionally warmed by a coppery burgundy reminiscent of the central red shades of Tignanello's characteristic barriques. Its rich metallic tint has further been inspired by the estate and the atmosphere of the winery. The car also comes with rims and callipers in matte and gloss black respectively, with emblems in copper.
In the cabin, the seats come in a Vegea material - a spreadable fabric derived from the vineyards - that are embellished with a multi-material silver and burgundy ribbed weave, a design chosen to recall the rows of vines on the Tignanello hill. These seats feature an embroidery of the sun, long used on the wine's bottle label. The cabin also makes use of dark briar wood with lasering, selected to recall the printing burned into the oak barrels.
The GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello is set to go to auction in California at Festival Napa Valley's Arts for All Gala - one of the leading arts charity events in the U.S.A.
