Polestar has announced that it will launch a new public charging service in Europe together with electric vehicle charging solutions firm Plugsurfing.
Called Polestar Charge, the service is said to encompass 650,000 compatible electric car charging points, giving Polestar drivers access to one of the largest charging networks in Europe. This network also includes the Tesla Supercharger network, alongside those from providers including Ionity, Recharge, Total, Fastned, and Allego. Users of the service will be able to opt for a monthly subscription service which will enable a discounted charging rate of up to 30% on more than 28,000 of the service's charging points.
The move makes Polestar the first manufacturer to integrate the Tesla Supercharging network into its own app. The firm announced in July 2023 that it will be adopting the Tesla North American Charging Standard for its vehicles sold in North America. Polestar owners in China will also now be able to access the Tesla Supercharger network in over 200 cities.
Polestar 2 drivers in Europe have had access to public chargers within the Plugsurfing network, and special discounts on pricing since 2020. The launch of the new Polestar Charge service comes ahead of the first European customer deliveries of the Polestar 3 and the Polestar 4.
