Polestar's latest coupe SUV, the Polestar 4, has just been unveiled in Singapore for a media preview session. To be offered in both dual and single motor variants, the Polestar 4 is the fastest production Polestar ever made.
Designed from the ground up as a coupe SUV, and with a special emphasis on rear occupant comfort, the Polestar 4 adopts a revolutionary approach that strays from the typical method of modifying an existing SUV by lowering the roofline.
Elements from the Polestar Precept have found its way onto the stylish coupe SUV. The Polestar 4 gets a low, aerodynamically-optimised nose that is flanked by dual blade front lights with unique Polestar light signature that looks like they have been lifted straight off the Precept.
Like the Precept, the Polestar 4's rear window has also been eliminated - this decision allows a unique immersive experience for the rear occupants.
Built upon the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) developed by Geely Holding, the Polestar 4 has a long wheelbase of 2,999mm along with a large body to result in a spacious interior. The unique combination of the lack of a rear window, plenty of interior space, adjustable ambient lighting, and the electrically reclinable rear seats, has allowed Polestar to create an intimate and comfortable environment for the rear occupants.
The rear-view mirror has been replaced with a high-definition screen that shows a real-time feed from the roof-mounted rear camera, negating the need for a rear window. The far wider field of view that can be achieved with this system means it isn't just a design-led decision - functionality has also been put into consideration.
The Polestar 4 is the fastest production car that the brand has developed to date. The Long Range Dual Motor variant puts out 536bhp and 686Nm of torque, propelling the car from 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Meanwhile, the Long Range Single Motor variant puts out a healthy 268bhp and 343Nm of torque, allowing it to complete the century sprint in a swift 7.1 seconds. Both variants are equipped with the same substantial 100kWh battery, which results in a WLTP range of up to 590km and 620km respectively.
Substantial effort has been put into the Android Automotive OS powered-infotainment system. Unlike past Polestar cars, the system now utilises a large 15.4-inch display in landscape orientation. The system has been designed with user experience in mind - features such as split screen, and a far-reaching profile system that considers not just seating position, but climate control preferences, steering position, ambient lighting settings, and others, has been introduced.
The Polestar 4 is now available for viewing at the Polestar Space at 45 Leng Kee Road; deliveries are expected to commence from Q3 2024. The Long Range Dual Motor variant is expected to start from $245,000 (before COE), while the Long Range Single Motor variant is expected to start from $195,000 (before COE). Pilot and Plus Packs will come standard while Pro and Performance Pack are also available as options in Singapore.
